This Gold Star Award is going to Peggy, who has been putting her Mum and Dad’s needs before her own for as long as I have known her.
Peggy’s mum Jiankuan had a stroke in 2013 which left her with Aphasia (loss of speech) and severe right sided weakness. Jiankuan needs help to get out of bed in the morning and to get dressed, as well as to transfer in and out of her wheelchair or go to the toilet.
Peggy lives with her parents and, together with her Dad, cares for her Mum every day. She works full-time in a very demanding job and, on the weekends (all weekends!), she spends her free time taking Jiankuan to therapy (Accupuncture and Physiotherapy), and other appointments.
I think this deserves a special award, because I know that without Peggy’s help and involvement, Jiankuan and her husband would not be living the live they do.
I want to present this award to Peggy, representative to all carers, friends and family members who help by taking our clients to therapy, conducting exercises and simply give their time to help.
Thank you, Peggy, and thank you all!
