HAVE YOU HAD A STROKE? WHO CARES
................WE DO!

Philip Strong was one of the first people to go through our intensive stroke program in 2010. Following a stroke two years earlier he was not accepted for rehabilitation and was sent home needing assistance for all of his daily care needs. He had lost all mobility on his right side, and lost the use of his speech. Philip needed to use an electric wheelchair to get around the house and a push chair for going out. Then his wife and sole carer passed away. The options his family faced were to move him to a nursing home or try and improve his independence enough to keep him at home safely.
Stroke care costs over $2 billion dollars each year and that does not account for the unpaid hours that are spent by spouses and family members helping out. With an aging population and higher rates of cardiovascular disease the costs of managing strokes will only increase and people like Philip are losing out. Advance Rehab Centre has identified this need for a program that is intensive and targeted to create significant changes in mobility and quality of life. For people like Philip, this was the only option left to him and it changed his life.
After completing a four week outpatient Intensive Stroke Program Philip’s confidence improved, the wheelchairs are now gathering dust in the shed and he is now able to live independently in his home with very limited assistance. His son, Chris told us “After 2 years of no major changes, it only took four weeks at the rehab centre to turn everything around completely.”
We aim to help people achieve their rehabilitation goals by providing a premium neurological outpatient service in our purpose-built rehab centre in St Leonards, and as a home-based service across Sydney. Our rehabilitation program includes core service delivery by physiotherapy and occupational therapy as well as ancillary care as indicated from speech pathology, acupuncture, neuromuscular orthotics, psychology and massage.
If you or someone you know has had a stroke and you have not yet reached your rehabilitation goals, please call us for a FREE phone consulation.
REHAB PREMIUM
The REHAB PREMIUM is the most intensive and popular block. This program offers a complete multidisciplinary allied health package and runs over one month. The premium program is the most powerful in achieving results with the key features of this program including the high volume of intervention, the multidisciplinary approach and the goal directed therapy. If you want progress, this is the program for you.
THE REHAB TRAINER
The REHAB TRAINER Block is offered for people who do not live in Sydney and want to maximise their recovery with the help of a local personal trainer, family member or carer. The program is designed to train family members, carers or other health care professional how to safely and effectively train their loved one in their gym or their home. The program requires the trainer to attend all sessions during the one week visit and runs for five consecutive days at our centre with up to three hours of therapy per session.

REHAB HOME-BASED

Our REHAB HOME-BASED is designed for people who do not have access to our rehab centre or prefer the convenience of home-based therapy. This four week program is styled on our intensive block with the additional benefit of helping you improve where you spend the most time. For people with mild to moderate stroke, this program can also be arranged as an early supported discharge program for those who are medically stable and able to be discharged home directly from acute care. Many people on this program find better results with lower rates of re-admission, lower rates of dependence and improved quality of life compared to inpatient rehab care.
