Gold Star Award goes to John Smith
In July this year John started taking his first few steps having had a stroke 12 months previously. He was referred by his hospital physiotherapist as it was felt that he had the potential to improve. John made the long trips from South Sydney up to Advance Rehab Centre in St Leonards with his wife and carer twice a week and worked hard on his homework exercises. John has made amazing gains and walked 50 metres in his last session with a stick and help of one person! Prior to this John needed maximum help of two people just to get in and out of his wheelchair and was unable to take a step at all. John now attends Burn Rubber Burn twice a week and is walking at home with his family and carers. Keep up the good work John and that crafty Welsh sense of humour!
