Gold Star Award goes to Philip Hercus

Just one month ago Philip started walking with his carer at home two years after having his stroke. It has been a very bumpy ride for Philip with several medical set backs along the way. He told his Doctor and physios two years ago that he wanted to walk independently and return to his passion of playing croquet.

Philip has a very weak right leg but has worked extremely hard in hydrotherapy and the gym to get it stronger. Together with Darren, our neuromuscular orthotist we developed the ‘elf shoe’ orthotic which enables Philip to slide his foot on the floor whilst walking. His leg is now much stronger, due to all his practice and he is looking forward to the day he can wear regular shoes. Philip has shown amazing strength and dedication to his recovery and the results speak for themselves. In Philip’s last physio session he walked 60 meters with no help at all! Well done Philip from all the team at ARC.

Fantastic result for you and Jan after such a long time and huge effort to regain some of your mobility. Obviously the gold star is well deserved and I am sure one should go to the team at Advanced Rehab Centre for their skills and technical ability in helping you get there. Would love to see you on the croquet field with that killer look on your face.. All the best Warwick & Jo
