Hydrotherapy

Hydrotherapy or Aquatic Physiotherapy allows you to exercise in a warm, gravity free environment which provides support, buoyancy, and gentle resistance during exercise. Our heated hydrotherapy pool is ideal for people with many types of neurological, orthopaedic and medical conditions and we offer stair or hoist access and disabled change rooms for those needed more specialised services.

Orthopaedic Conditions

Aquatic Physiotherapy is commonly used in rehabilitation programs for orthopaedic conditions such as joint replacements and reconstruction, fractures, arthritis and trauma. The supported environment of the water can provide pain relief in early mobilisation as well as reducing swelling and increasing range of motion.

Neurological Conditions

Aquatic Physiotherapy is used effectively for many neurological conditions such as stroke, Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson's Disease, traumatic brain injury, and spinal cord injury. The heating effects of the water can be very effective in relaxing muscles, reducing spasticity and encouraging gravity free movement. Hydrotherapy is an important part of many of our neurological rehabilitation programs.
