Neurological Rehabilitation

Are you looking for help and support for your neurological condition? We would like to help.

Advance Rehab Centre therapists have specific expertise and training in the management of many neurological conditions. Our aim is to provide you with practical solutions that are tailored to you and your goals. We offer specific programs for people with stroke and brain injury, Parkinson's disease and Polio, and customised sessions to people with other neurological conditions such as spinal cord injury, multiple sclerosis and MND.

Ongoing neurological rehabilitation can be vital in maintaining and achieving optimal physical outcomes in both the short and long term. In the case of degenerative neurological conditions such as Parkinson's disease or Motor Neurone disease, the focus of ongoing neurological treatment is to minimise disability and promote the best possible function and independence at each stage of the disease. For neurological injury such as in stroke and brain injury, highly skilled rehabilitation can mean the difference between gaining independence of daily activities such as walking, showering and returning to work.

Our therapy team includes physiotherapists, occupational therapists, neuromuscular orthotists, speech pathologists, acupuncture therapist and massage therapist and we have strong connections to podiatry, psychology and equipment suppliers.  Our philosophy is to get you moving and keep you moving and we use a range of treatment strategies to achieve efficient, painfree movement. These strategies may include targeted and task oriented exercise training, use of body weight support or prescribed equipment and aids, modification of environment, use of electrical stimulation, orthotics fabrication and referral to other health professionals.

Aquatic Physiotherapy is used effectively for many neurological conditions such as stroke, Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson's Disease, traumatic brain injury, and spinal cord injury. The heating effects of the water can be very effective in relaxing muscles, reducing spasticity and encouraging gravity free movement. Hydrotherapy is an important part of many of our neurological rehabilitation programs.

Improving the lives of people with neurological and complex therapy needs.
